Cut up the 5 cards & place however you like in the room. (I have 5 tables, 6 pupils on each - I put 3 copies of the same card on each table). Pupils work in pairs and are given 5 minutes on each table to see how many of the questions they can answer by reading the text. After 5 mins they move on to the next table. Or you can stick copies of the texts on the walls / tables / back of chairs etc and let them find the 5 different texts. Have fun!

BIGGEST FRENCH SUMMER WORDSEARCH!

Summer holiday vocabulary wordsearch. Words are listed in English so pupils have to use research tools to find out the French before finding them in the wordsearch. Perfect for that last lesson of the year!!! :) I've included 3 different formats so hopefully everyone can access it.

Pupil clicks on the spin wheel. Dial lands on a colour ; pupil must choose a box of same colour. Move the box to reveal a word - pupil gets sweet / point if they know what it is in English. Adaptable. More challenging if words on screen are in English, & pupil has to give French word.

Film themes - pupils decide which film genre

Just one slide...click on the 8 cinema tickets and a film theme will play. (Pictures are incidental ... they don't match with the music excerpts). Pupils have previously been taught film genres - they must note the correct genre as they listen to each theme. Could also be used to reinforce adjectives for describing films? Scroll to bottom of screen to find answers.

A selected pupil gives coordinates in French. Teacher taps appropriate square, which will fly out revealing a blank square or a Christmas pud!! There are 7 to find. The puds are at the bottom of the screen so you need to move them onto the grid before playing. This means you can play more than once! Nice way to end last lesson before Xmas! Sweets needed as prizes of course!! A bag of chocolate coins works well and is cheap! 'Ave it!! :) P.S. To re-set the game quickly, just click the blue forward arrow to take you onto next screen, then click the blue back arrow. This will return you to game screen with all squares back in place. You can retrieve the Xmas puds from the grid by using the blue curly UNDO arrow.

Remembrance day - French vocabulary on emotions

Pupils are given a copy of the vocab list on last slide of powerpoint. They are then shown a series of images with a choice of 3 emotions and asked to show red/amber/green card to show which emotion they think is shown in the images. (Our pupils' planners have RAG pages - they could use different coloured pens / objects instead?) Later slides offer no choice of emotions, but encourage pupils to write an emotion on a whiteboard instead. Depending on ability of class pupils could be encouraged to write whole sentences rather than single words.

French Christmas dominoes

Pupils use a dictionary to find out new vocabulary. They then create a long line of dominoes, matching up all the words and pictures. Once they are familiar with the vocabulary they can play a few games of dominoes! (Worth discussing the rules first .. some of my pupils weren't sure how to play dominoes!!)

Pupils put the cards in the right order to create an interview with Peter Capaldi. Accompanying worksheet reinforces their knowledge of key phrases prior to producing a description of a celebrity. Credit to a colleague on another website for the original idea, which I have adapted here. ‘Ave it!! :)
